Resumen

Durante las últimas décadas se ha avanzado en el estudio de la cognición y la música. En este sentido, se ha descubierto que habilidades generadas por la formación musical, son transferibles a otras capacidades o funciones cognitivas. Algunos de los hallazgos, señalan que estas modificaciones son producidas a nivel cerebral, pero en ellos no se hace la distinción acerca del rol que posee el cuerpo en desarrollo de dichos procesos. El objetivo de esta revisión es proponer los fundamentos que relacionan el aprendizaje musical, desde una perspectiva de la cognición corporizada y la neurociencia, con los cambios que se producen en otras funciones cognitivas, destacando la importancia que tiene la educación musical y el desarrollo de investigación aplicada en el área.
