1. Editorial Policy
NEUMA is a scientific journal of the School of Music at the University of Talca, which publishes original articles to dissemination and promotion of musicological research and teaching discipline . It is a space created to encourage reflection, criticism and analysis of music, from creation and teaching. Its contents cover a wide thematic range around the creative processes of Latin American music scene , as well as relevant aspects for the generation of debate and discussion in depth at different levels of disciplinary training. Open Access Policy : This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
2. Scope and editorial policy
The journal consists of two sections, music and musical teaching, in which articles and essays will be published. These must be original and be studies or investigations that are completed or in an important stage of development that allows publication of results. In the case of work arising from a financed research project, the name, project code and/or funding sources must be indicated in the first footnote. The journal also publishes other contributions such as book reviews, reflections, comments, interviews or research developments, as long as they adhere to the mission.
3. Selection and publication process
The journal Neuma only accepts original and unpublished works in the areas of music and musical teaching to be published in the months of August (volume 1) and December (Volume 2) of each year.
Texts received by the direction of the journal will receive a preliminary examination to verify that the subject corresponds to the sections stated in the mission and of its original character. The director of the journal is entitled to reject a collaboration when it does not correspond to the aforementioned sections or the quality of background appears ostensible and indisputably inferior.
If the director considers the work admissible, it will be submitted to the editorial board, which resolves the final form of the publication of the work. For this purpose, the Committee shall request reports from external evaluators, foreign and national, who, by a pattern of assessment ensure compliance with the standards of originality, quality, relevance and grounding, suggest whether or not to publish a work. Given the rigorous process of blind peer review (double blind peer review) at all times during the process the anonymity of the author and assessors, who will be from outside the publishing institution, will be preserved. Finally, for the accepted works, the publisher may make suggestions to enrich the text, which must be included by the author in a short time period, unless the author presents a relevant reason to dispute the request. The authors will be informed of the decision regarding the acceptance of the contribution in a period not exceeding four months from receipt of work.
